A Global Celebration Comes Home to Fishtown
We have been following Jin and Kalvin on quite a journey.
Their wedding wasn't just a single day. It was a massive, multi-part adventure that spanned continents and seasons. They camped in the wilderness, skied through the snow in the Swiss Alps, and relaxed on tropical beaches.
It all started quietly with an intimate exchange of vows at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which I had the honor of documenting. But to wrap up this incredible year of celebration, they knew they needed to bring it all back home to celebrate with the people who matter most.
For the grand finale, they gathered one hundred of their closest family and friends for an afternoon lunch at Picnic Philly on Martha Street.
The vibe was the complete opposite of a traditional, stuffy reception. Picnic, with its airy industrial space and incredible food, was the perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon. There was no pressure, just great company and a genuine celebration of their marriage.
One of my favorite details of the day was how they chose to honor each other’s heritage. In a beautiful twist on tradition, they swapped cultural attire. Jin wore a stunning red Cheongsam, a traditional Chinese tea ceremony dress, to honor Kalvin’s background. In return, Kalvin wore a traditional Korean Hanbok to honor Jin’s roots. It was a visual representation of two families and two cultures coming together in support of one another.
Seeing them surrounded by so much love in such a cool, laid-back setting was the perfect way to cap off their world tour of wedding celebrations.
Jin and Kalvin, thank you for taking me along for the ride. From the quiet moments at the museum to this packed room full of laughter in Fishtown, it has been an incredible experience.
Here are a few favorites from their afternoon at Picnic.
