An Extravagant South Asian Wedding at Hilton Penn's Landing | Shayna & Saurin

There is a unique rhythm to a multi-day wedding celebration that I always love capturing. Shayna and Saurin kicked off their week with a beautiful Mendhi and Haldi at Shayna's parents' house in the Philadelphia suburbs. Starting the festivities in such a warm and familiar backyard setting creates a relaxed atmosphere that perfectly sets the stage for the grand events to follow.

When the wedding day arrived, we headed into Philadelphia for their morning portraits. Being based right here in the city, I always jump at the chance to use Old City for photos. The 18th-century gardens provided a quiet and historic backdrop with lush greenery that looked incredible on camera and gave the couple a peaceful moment together before the excitement truly began. After capturing those quiet portraits, we made our way to the Hilton Penns Landing where the energy shifted entirely.

The venue's location right on the Delaware River opened the door for one of the most memorable entrances I have ever photographed. Instead of a traditional street procession, Saurin arrived for his Baraat via boat with Sea Philly. Watching him cruise down the river to greet his guests was nothing short of epic and set the tone for the rest of the day. Inside the venue, Abhishek Decorators completely transformed the space. Their intricate work on the lush floral Mandap and the custom aisle created a breathtaking setting for Shayna and Saurin to exchange their vows.

The reception kept that same extravagant energy going well into the night. One of the absolute highlights was the couple's first dance. Instead of the usual sparkler fountains that shoot up from the floor, they surprised everyone with sparklers that shot straight down from the ceiling. It created a magical, glowing curtain of light around them that was visually stunning and made for spectacular photos.
