An Iconic New York City Indian Wedding at Cipriani South Street
There are weddings that take place in New York City, and then there are weddings that truly embrace the energy of the city itself. Naomi and Akshay’s celebration was a perfect example of the latter as it spanned some of the most iconic spots in Manhattan while keeping family tradition at the heart of it all. We started the festivities in an intimate setting with the Mendhi held at Naomi’s parents' home in New York. It was the perfect way to ground the week in family connection before the energy ramped up.
The couple chose to infuse a bit of modern flair into the traditional events by hosting their Haldi at El Vez Mexican restaurant. It was such a fun and unexpected venue choice that added a vibrant atmosphere to the ritual. The celebration continued with a stunning Sangeet at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, where guests enjoyed views of the Hudson River while dancing the night away.
Everything culminated in a spectacular wedding day at Cipriani South Street, which is easily one of the most prestigious wedding venues in Lower Manhattan. The day began with a showstopper of a Baraat that started at the Helipad and actually paraded down FDR Drive. Shutting down a piece of the city for such a joyous procession was an incredible experience and set the tone for the grandeur of the ceremony. Inside Cipriani, the Beaux-Arts architecture provided a majestic backdrop for their union.
Thank you, Naomi and Akshay, for inviting me to document this quintessential New York celebration. It was an honor to capture your love story against the backdrop of the city that never sleeps. Here are a few of my favorite moments from their incredible week in NYC.
