Dharti + Anuj: A Night Ceremony and Reception at Chase Center on the Riverfront

Having a traditional Indian wedding in a single day can feel like a marathon. That’s why I loved the approach Dharti and Anuj took for their Chase Center on the Riverfront wedding in Wilmington, Delaware. Instead of rushing, they split the celebration into two distinct chapters: a moody, romantic night ceremony and a high-energy reception the following day. This was a brilliant move. Not only did it let the couple actually breathe and be present for their rituals without a reception timeline looming over them, but it also gave us a chance to capture two completely different vibes at this stunning venue.

There is a cinematic quality to a night wedding ceremony that you just don't get during the day. The Chase Center on the Riverfront transforms once the sun goes down; the lights from the Riverwalk reflect off the water, creating this incredible, moody backdrop for portraits. Inside, the atmosphere was focused and intimate. Without the scramble to get to a cocktail hour, Dharti and Anuj could fully immerse themselves in the moment. The Mandap looked breathtaking against the darkened room, illuminated by soft professional lighting that made the rich colors of their outfits absolutely pop in the camera.

Dharti is a massive fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and she found the perfect way to sneak that passion into her bridal look. If you looked closely at the intricate henna patterns on her hands, you could spot the Eagles logo hidden in her mehndi. It was such a cool, personal touch—a way to honor tradition while still shouting out her love for the Birds. It was easily the favorite detail for everyone who spotted it.

After everyone got some actual rest, we returned the next day, ready to throw down. You could feel the difference in the room; since the formalities were done the night before, the second day was pure joy and dancing. The spacious ballrooms at the Chase Center were perfect for the guest count, and the dance floor stayed packed. Splitting the event into a two-day timeline meant guests were recharged and had double the energy to burn. It was the perfect ending to an incredible weekend in Wilmington.
