Axita + Maulin | A Hilton Pearl River Indian Wedding

It is the best feeling when a family invites you back. I photographed Shivani and Rajeev’s wedding last year in New Jersey. So when her brother, Maulin, and Axita reached out for their own wedding, I was all in. It felt less like a job and more like a reunion.

We started the weekend with that same homegrown energy I remember from the last time. Maulin’s family hosted pre-wedding events in their backyard to kick off the celebrations. Axita had her Mehndi at a family friend’s house in Pearl River, New York. It was intimate and relaxed. This is exactly what you need before the chaos of a multi-day South Asian wedding starts.

For the big day we were at the Hilton Pearl River. As a wedding photographer, I have to talk about the location we found for the portraits. There is a massive open field right behind the hotel. We used it for the first look and the morning couples portraits.

The backdrop was perfect. It was just an open expanse of green that gave the photos a super dreamy and clean vibe. It is rare to find a spot that is quiet and scenic right at a venue. It was the perfect contrast to the high energy of the reception later that night.

It was awesome seeing Shivani and Rajeev again and watching Maulin take his turn in the spotlight with Axita. Thanks for trusting me with another huge family milestone!
